About authors:

Dick Barendregt
- finished dental school in 1988 at the Rijksuniversiteit van Groningen. He worked as dentist in the Royal Dutch Navy in several private practices for a period of 5 years.

In 1996 he founded his own clinic in Rotterdam. In his clinic he works as a specialist in periodontology and implantology. The last 20 years the emphasis in patient treatment has been on the interdisciplinary planning (Proclin Rotterdam) together with endodontists, orthodontist, prosthetic dentist, dental technicians and oral surgeons.
From 1995 to 2001 Dick Barendregt was on the board of the Dutch Society of Periodontology (NVvP) as treasurer. Since 2017 he is chairman of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Institute on Guidelines in Dentistry.
Dick Barendregt received on November 4th 2009 his PhD degree on his thesis “Probing around teeth” and was appointed on July 1st 2019 as Adjunct Professor at the Department Periodontology, Adams School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina. Since March 1993 he works in a Private orthodontic practice in Rotterdam and works as a lecturer for Orthocourse in post-academic orthodontic training. In 1998 he started a inter-disciplinary team for complex dental treatment together with dr. D.S. Barendregt (kliniek voor Parodontologie in Rotterdam). Where they started with autotransplantations in 2003. In July 2011 he stood at the start of PRO-rotterdam, a clinic for dental prosthetic, reconstructive and orthodontic treatment. Dr. Leunisse is also an author or co-author of scientific publications in the field and also an editor of 3 monographies.

Marcel Linssen
- got his doctoral degree in dentistry at Utrecht University in 1988 and finished his Dental examinations at the Catholic University of Nijmegen in 1989.
From 1991 onwards he was one of the founding fathers of a large general dental clinic in Rotterdam.
From 2012 onwards he is working at PRO-Rotterdam, a reference clinic for prosthodontics and restorative dentistry, and PROCLIN, a clinic for the interdisciplinary treatment of dento-alveolar trauma, amelogenesis imperfecta, oligodontia, treatment of wear in combination with orthodontics and autotransplants. Since 2014 he is acknowledged as Prosthodontist by the European Prosthodontic Association.

Edwin Eggink
- Completed his study dentistry in 1994 and his specialization in Endodontics in 1997, both at ACTA Amsterdam.

In the past years publications, lectures and classes were provided, together with Dick Barendregt, Manfred Leunisse and Marcel Linssen, all dedicated to autotransplantation.

Abstract of the lecture:

Transplantation of premolars to the region of missing central incisors is a procedure enabling an esthetic recovery of both pink and white esthetics and provides a solution which doesn’t interfere with the normal development of the dento-alveolar complex.
For replacing a unilateral incisor, transplantation of a premolar often results in a less favorable outcome because the dimension of a premolar normally doesn’t match with the dimension of the smaller lateral incisor. In this lecture we will present different treatment options such as transplantation of a lower central incisor to the region of an upper lateral incisor. You will learn how to determine a tooth size discrepancy caused by reduced dimension of the upper laterals, its implications, the solutions and opportunities caused by this orthodontic deviation.
After trauma to the anterior region with loss of teeth, the alveolar bone is also compromised. Transplantation of teeth into this defect followed by orthodontic extrusion will resolve this defect. In this lecture we will show you the potential of the periodontal ligament in inducing bone growth in cases where there is no bone present.
In this lecture most of the cases shown will be transplantations of fully developed teeth. We will show you the procedure followed by our team to do these transplantations in a predictable way.
